You may get burned for the umpteenth time by pre-ordering Sonic Colors before the reviews are in, but at least you’ll get a hat out of it. Reminiscent of the Scribblenauts “Rooster Hat” bonus, this Sonic hat is the worm on GameStop’s hook for purchasing either the Wii or DS version of the game.

The hat will be handed over for both online and in-store purchases when the game launches. If recent history serves as any indication, it may be easier to justify spending the money if one thinks of the game as being the pre-order bonus for the hat.

>Walmart Online Game Center Store

Walmart has opened a new online store for video games: “Gamecenter” (not to be confused with the GameFly mobile app of the same name). From the looks of it, Walmart is out to compete with Amazon, specifically in the online pre-order business. Gamecenter is offering lots of pre-order incentives, including e-credit and bonus game content, for several of the big releases this year. There don’t appear to be many, if any price reductions on standard retail games if pre-ordered (compared to Amazon typically knocking several dollars off of the competition’s price), and Walmart’s shipping for a single game is set at just under a dollar.

The best pre-order deal on Gamecenter currently offers a $50 eGift card when you pre-order three games together from a predefined list; and your choices must be for the same platform, Xbox 360 or PS3. Still, there are some noteworthy games on the list, including Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Crackdown 2, Dead Rising 2, Medal of Honor, Fallout: New Vegas and Final Fantasy XIV.

There are also several offers on single pre-orders, with Call of Duty: Black Ops including a $20 eGift card. The Legendary and Limited Editions of Halo: Reach also come with $20 credits, and several other pre-orders include $10–20 cards.

Pre order your Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii

https://i0.wp.com/www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/mpprimetrilboxartposta.jpg

In order to get customers ready for the re-release of every Metroid Prime game in existence (well…except the DS iterations) Nintendo has revealed the very sleek boxart for the “Metroid Prime Trilogy”. The game will ship inside a collective tin (not unlike a special collectors edition of other games), and inside the tin will be the game’s box with a single disk containing all three games on it, and a “special Metroid Prime Trilogy artbook”.

The collection will retail for about $50 in North America, but if you pre-order it from Gamestop you’ll also receive a special Metroid T-Shirt featuring the one and only Samus Aran. The offer is valid for both in-store and online pre-orders.
